Netflix Projects Makes Game Of Thrones Showrunners Quit Star Wars

DB Weiss and David Benioff make a decision to quit working on Star Wars. They are the showrunners of Game of Thrones, and they have ultimately got a new project on hand. The duo says, “In a day there are only so many hours. We felt that we could not do total justice to both Netflix projects and Star Wars. So we are regretfully stepping down”.

The Massive Netflix Deal

Netflix recently signs a multi-year deal with this dynamic duo. They want this duo to produce exclusive content for them. Stepping away from Star Wars means that they are under the umbrella of Netflix for quite a long time now. Star Wars movie was due to come out in the theaters in 2022. But this, however, seems a very distant dream now.

Kathleen Kennedy, the President of Lucasfilm, says, “DB Weiss and David Benioff are amazing storytellers. We hope we can include them in our projects when they find time to focus on Star Wars. They are currently running pretty busy now”. in response to this, the duo says, ” We love Star Wars. George Lucas built us when he built Star Wars. It is an immense experience for us. When we talk to him about Star Wars and the team we talk to now is a complete thrill. We will be forever indebted to the saga that changed everything”.

Whether Disney still wants to continue with the dynamic duo is hard to know. But what we know for sure is that this pair has a lot of Star Wars projects on its plate. The real reason for stepping down was time rather than talent. As per the Deadline, this duo makes a deal of nine figures with Netflix. This deal was cracked on Monday. This commitment is what brings an end to the relationship between the Game of Thrones duo and Disney along with Lucasfilm.
