Marie Fredriksson-The Roxette Singer did leave us at the age of 61. The reports say that she was battling cancer for 17 years. She finally loses her battle and gives in to cancer on Monday. The management company confirms this devastating news.

Her Music Career

Marie Fredriksson was a solo artist from Sweden. She was not only popular but also extremely successful. The solo singer of 61 years later joins hands with Per Gessle. This is where she performs Roxette. This act was so splendid that it gains global recognition and fame. The magical duo amazes the world with their hit single “The Look.” This song was a Billboard topper back in the year 1989.

This was not the end. She hit her fans again with “It Must Have Been Love.” This smashing hit also sees the light of the big screen as it features himself in “Pretty Woman.” This was a movie in 1990, and it stars Julia Roberts and Richard Geere as the main lead. Marie Fredriksson was full of talent, and this is why she went on tour with Roxette. She gains much popularity and recognition through live tours, as well.

The Devastating Diagnosis

Back in 2002, Marie Fredriksson got a diagnosis of a brain tumor. She, however, healed from it through very aggressive treatment. Seeing her body heal itself, she again went back to the stage. She was performing again by the year 2009. She also makes several new album launches after her struggle with a brain tumor. However, again, in 2016, the doctor confirms that she should rest more and tour less. Her health should be her priority as she just got back from a vicious ailment.

As per the management committee Dimber Jernberg, “Marie leaves a huge musical history behind her. She was blessed with an amazing voice. Her voice was both sensitive and strong at the same time”. Marie may have been gone from this world, but we all know that her magical performances will never be forgotten. All those who were able to witness her live performances should consider themselves lucky. These experiences should be forever cherished.
